01/09/2010 - Dons veteran ruled out for season opener

Peter pan impersonator Ben Shave has ruled himself out for a couple of weeks with a 'dodgy ankle/heel'.

The absence of left back Shave - who has also reportedly played as a striker and goalkeeper in his time - is a big blow for the Dons, who play their first game of the season against Litlington on Sunday.

The club's management are hoping that a little 'alternative therapy' will help speed up the healing process...

31/08/2010 - VB Trophies Kicks Off! (WEEK 1)

The VB Trophies (Cambridge District Sunday Football League) kicked off on Sunday with three matches being played. The results for Division 3B were as follows:

Barley 1 Banyers 1

Gransden 3 The Plough 1

Sawston Athletic 3 Elmdon 1

The Dons don't start their campaign until this Sunday where they will host Litlington Sunday at Coldhams Common. So far only Simon Carter (on the lash) and Jamie Grant (injured) look to be doubts for Sunday and it is hoped that a strong squad will be available for the fixture.

17/08/2010 - Lemons to rejoin the Dons

Former Dons player Alex Lemons looks to be rejoining the club for the 2010-11 season. The pacy attacker famously scored the first ever goal for the club in the 6-2 victory over Zebra in the summer of 2008. These look to be exciting times for the Dons and the new season can not come any sooner.

Lemons played in Sundays game against Coleridge Crusaders and managed to claim an assist for Dave Bolwerks bullet header.

There is going to be fierce competition for starting places this season...

16/08/2010 - ARU Pull the Plug on 24th August Friendly

Unfortunately ARU have had to pull out of the friendly scheduled for 24th August. The Dons have won the previous two matches 3-2 and 8-1. The game would have been a good finale to the Dons pre-season schedule but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

There was also an added spice to the fixture amidst revelations that midfielder Bertie Rapkin had been tapped up by ARU in recent weeks. The Dons stalwart also featured in a friendly match for them last week. Rumours of a club fine are circulating due to the players breach of contract and senior figures at the club are said to be 'fuming' at the incident. Coldhams Dons FC are refusing to comment on Rapkins position/future at the club.

08/08/2010 - Dons Make Third Signing of the Summer as Danny Spruce Joins the Club

Following the signings of Will Day and Paul Matthews, the club has more good news to announce as Danny Spruce has signed for the club. Spruce, 22, is a midfielder/attacker and has already made his mark on the club with a hat-trick on his debut. It looks like it could be an exciting season ahead in 2010-11...

06/08/2010 - Dons Unveil Paul Matthews and Will Day as First Summer Signings

The Dons are pleased to announce the following signings for the 2010-11 season:

Paul Matthews - a left-back and centre-back who impressed massively in the friendly against CFU last weekend. A tall, powerful defender with an eye for a good pass.

Will Day - a right-wing/right-back who needs no introduction to followers of the club. Will played in the 2008-09 season and has cemented his place as a fans favourite.

03/08/2010 - Dons to Swoop for Former Legend Will Day

Former Dons legend Will Day looks to be making a sensational return to the Dons for the 2010-11 season. Day has just finished his degree and is set to ditch his countdown watching, tax-dodging, supernoodle munching lifestyle for the rough and tumble of Cambridgeshire Sunday League Football.

The deal is all but done, it is merely a paperwork exercise following talks with the player. If Chairman Shave would just put those cigars away it would have been done and dusted a long time ago...

16/07/2010 - Dons to enter the VB Trophies League for 2010-11

After two seasons in the CDFL, the Dons have decided to join a new league - The VB Trophies Cambridge District Sunday Football League.

Despite some enjoyable moments over the last two years players at the club were getting fed up of the constant free Sundays and lack of referee's in the CDFL. In response to this the committee decided to join a new league where these problems are not an issue. The VB Trophies league accepted our application to join and a new chapter in the history of the club will be written.

The move will mean a lot more work behind the scenes for the committee members but it should be worth it.

The Dons will start off in Division 3B and everyone at the club is looking forward to the new season.

There will be ten teams in the division and we all play against each other twice throughout the course of the season. Our opponents will be as follows:

Banyers

Barley

Coldhams Dons

Elmdon

Gransden Sunday

Guilden Morden

Litlington Sunday

Meldreth United

Plough

Sawston Athletic

We also be competing in three cups as well; two VB trophies cups and the Centenary Cup. I will post more information about these tournaments when I have it.
