27/01/2012 - Iceni Rangers fold

Fellow Division 3B outfit Iceni Rangers have withdrawn from the league.

No official update to the league table yet, but presumably all points and goals from Iceni fixtures will become void. This being the case the top half of the table all drop three points (including the Dons), but the chasing Sawston and Elmdon would lose 6 points.

It also means Jamie will slip off the goalscoring chart - not laughing now, hey J !!

[now confirmed, matches marked as abandoned and topscorer table updated. Details of team, match, scorers etc remain in the match list on website]

06/12/2011 - Night Out - 23rd Dec

Not content with bangin' in goals, Sharman is also partial to a few bangin' tunes (... very sorry...) and is finally playing out behind the decks as an xmas treat.

'Tonic' - Fri 23rd Dec

The newly refurbished Fountain Inn, upstairs bar on Regent Street Cambridge.

*free entry before 10pm*

A good way to celebrate the end of a working week and the build up to Christmas!

The bar is also open to 3am and there will be a good mix of music with several dj's playing (including Sharm!)

In hindsight, the Dons Autumn dip in form coincided with our spiritual home at the Fountain shutting for refurbishment - so the reopening should be a reason for everyone to celebrate. Just like a Sunday - "Lets enjoy it lads".

05/09/2011 - Carter's Landmark

Our resident statistician (someone who was bored at work) has highlighted that Carter is the first Don to pass 60 apperances for the club in competitive matches.

In the process he has netted a stunning(/lucky) 55 goals(/deflections). Hopefully nobody has injured themselves from falling off their chair at that killer stat... I'll get Bolton on the case to check the sums...

Well done Carter.

24/08/2011 - Countdown to kick off

The Dons will launch their assault on the VB Trophies 3B title this weekend with a home game against Fowlmere.

The two sides have met twice before, with the Dons winning 4-3 in October 2009 and Fowlmere getting revenge with a 3-0 victory the following May.

The 4-3 game is perhaps most memorable for veteran Dons defender Ben Shave's 40-yard 'scorcher' - arguably the finest goal ever seen in Dons colours...

02/08/2011 - 2011-12 fixtures released

Mitoo have just released the league and cup fixture lineup for the 2011-12 season.

League:

The Dons stay in division 3B which will consist of 10 teams. Half the teams are new to the division, with some new to the league completely.

The Dons campaign starts early on AUGUST 28th at Coldhams against league new boys Fowlmere. The Dons have played Fowlmere back when Shave was a lad in the CDFL years, should be a testing opener.

Fixtures will be copied to the website soon, in the mean time details can be found here:

30 OCT   Don Page Cup(R2):      Histon British Legion/Phoenix v Coldhams Dons   (Round 1 bye)

14/07/2011 - Pre-season calender takes shape

Another friendly, against VB division 3A side Alma Reserves, has been added to the pre-season calender (and yes, it is on a Monday with 6.30pm ko).

The Alma have a spy in the ranks in the form of Tom Grew. He has allegedly already passed on key tactical inside information - stay out of Jamie's way. Sound advice.

Please try and make yourselves available for the match dates in the fixture list.

30/03/2011 - End of season awards night

The famous Coldhams Dons end of season night out will take place on Saturday, April 9th 2011.

Details are still being finalised but - in time honoured Dons tradition - the evening will almost certainly involve a visit to the Fountain...

21/03/2011 - Sharman gets the boot
Jon Sharman now tops the league goalscorers table with 21, ousting Guilden Morden's Will Criddle from top spot at the death with a brace against Barley. Both had three goals scratched from their totals after Banyers folded late on in the season.

The goal that secured the golden boot was laced with guile, skill and sublime technique - or some might call it route one. The windmill celebration made up for it though! The goal was also the match winner, which ironically helped Guilden secure third place in the league.

The nearest rival in a team with fixtures remaining needs 13 goals in three games to cause an upset - and that would smell a bit fishy.

Well done Sharman(ator).

p.s. Carter got 12 compared to Jons 21. Just saying, its a stat. 12. Yes, I said 12. A nice, neat, even dozen. Dave got 3 and he plays at the back. Twelve. Ernie got 6 and didn't play many games. But these are just stats right, and we all know stats mean nothing. 12.

11/03/2011 - All still to play for...

Even though the Dons haven't had a game for a while, there's still plenty of late season 'exceitment' in the heady heights of the 3B league.

Banyers appear to have withdrawn from the league making all of their games, and consequently everyone elses points and goals, void.

Overall it still means the Dons can secure the definitive mid-table slot with a win in the final game against Barley. Gransden can still steal it if they win their remaining games against bottom half opposition and the Dons slip up. So after 16 games we're still in with a chance of proving ourselves to be absolutely average - never let it be said the Dons don't have ambition!

Further up Guilden Morden must be wondering how they've finished outside the top two after occupying runner-up position for most of the season. Litlington secured the title a while ago, belated congratulations to them.

The golden boot is still very much alive with Sharman one goal off the top. After this week Jon will have a target to aim for as all likely contenders will have completed their games. Everyone at the Dons hopes Jon's hamstrings hang together long enough to bag a few*.

It looks like hard times for a number of clubs, together with Banyers, mitoo also reports Sporting Hinton (2B) are in the process of withdrawing from the league.

* Captain Carter was unavailable to confirm his support at the time of writing, but we're sure he isn't bitter.

02/03/2011 - Top form

An unbeaten run of 4 games has pushed the Dons to the top of the League 3B February form table. Simples.
